I’ve been involved in Home Based Business for over 20 years now and I’ve
been marketing on the Internet for the past 10 of those years. I’ve learned
many different ways to drive traffic to my websites to increase optins and
convert those optins into sales. All methods well work to a certain degree,
but the one method that stands above all of the rest in my mind in simply
running classified ads on Craigslist.
Of course trying to post these ads and get these ads to go LIVE on
Craigslist is an altogether different story. If you are trying to market
a Home Based Business Opportunity and recruit people into your
downline or organization then the very best place for you to
post your ads will be in the Jobs section under sales or marketing.
Since you are not really advertising for a sales position you will need
to write your ad as if you were, also you should never mention the
company name that your are promoting in your ad and when possible
try not to send people to your replicated company website
Now these will also be the 2 hardest areas to get your ads to show up in.
One thing that worked for me was to simply pay $25 for the ads in the
Jobs sections. There are 18 major cities that you have to pay $25 per ad to
post in and then there is the whole San Francisco area which will
cost you $75. ONe thing to keep in mind, if You post a paid ad then your ad
cannot be flagged and removed by the CL community, the only way your
ad can be flagged and removed is by a CL employee. Once they figure out that
they don’t like your ads for whatever reason they will put a block on your
credit card so that you cannot use it to place more ads, not a problem if
you have access to many credit cards, also CL will not let you use a prepaid
credit card or a gift card to post ads.
Also I say free ads but actually they really are not free. Craigslist requires
that you have phone verified accounts in order to post ads in any category
on CL. You can use your home phone, number, your cell phone numbers,
your firends and family members cell phone numbers but sooner or later
you will run out of numbers to use and will have to purchase phone verified
accounts online, they will cost you anywhere from $3 - $7 per account.
Remember if you want to post 10 ads daily on CL you will need about
20 phone verified accounts. I will explain why later below You will get
more optins or responses to your paid ads then you will get with the free
ones, simply because the market in those major cities is much larger.
You will need to get about 5 free ads to go live for you in the smalled
markets/cities in order to equal the response from 1 paid ad. I would
suggest you just run 1 or 2 paid ads per week to stay under the
radar, so to speak, that way your credit cards will not get blocked and you will
be able to place the paid ads for a longer period.
Your usually don’t have to worry about your paid ads getting
ghosted (not showing up) if you start getting a message “your posting
has been held for review” after paying for your ad, then you may be
trouble with CL and may soon have your credit card blocked, take
a couple of weeks off from paid posting if that happens to you
There are a number of reasons why your free ads will get ghosted, here are a few:
Your domain name is blacklisted by craiglist
Your phone number is blacklisted by craiglist
Your email address is blacklisted by craiglist
Your IP address is blacklisted by craiglist
Your are posting prohibited items
You are over posting i.e exceeding daily posting limit
Your ads are being flagged by the visitors a lot.
Your titles or descriptions contain blacklisted keyword phrases.
You are posting under wrong category
The best way to avoid getting your ads ghosted is To:
Change your IP address every post
never use the same headlines
never use the same ad body
never post more than 1 ad to each account in a 48 hours
Some people thinks writing to craigslist support team will resolve
the ghosting problem. But remember craiglist has only about two
dozens of employee. They don’t have time to read your email, and
if you call them plan on being on hold for at least 45 minutes
